PQAI’s IPC/CPC Lookup is an AI-powered classification tool that helps you quickly identify the most relevant patent classes for your invention idea.

All you need to do is describe your technology in a sentence or phrase. Based on that, the tool suggests 50 classification codes that best match your input.

This helps you understand how your invention is categorized in global patent systems and enables more targeted prior-art searches.

Steps to use the IPC/CPC Lookup tool

1. Go to search.projectpq.ai

2. From the left-hand sidebar, click on CPC Lookup.

3. Enter your technology query in the text box. For example,  “vehicles that run on water” or “self-driving cars” and hit the search button. 

4. PQAI will then display a list of 50 IPC/CPC classification codes

5. Each entry includes:

• The classes (e.g., B60F3/0007) and
• A brief description of what the class represents

Each code is clickable, so you can explore its full classification context. There is also the option to view a short and detailed description of these classes. For instance:

You can choose the view that best suits your needs. You can then use these classes directly in other patent search platforms, or refine your PQAI query by focusing on a particular class.
